"If you really love Me, you will keep obey My commands!" John 14:15

God created the world good. And yet, from the very beginning, forces were already at work making things go wrong.

Genesis tells how God had given Adam and Eve all that they needed for a happy life and had commanded them not to touch or eat from a certain three. But then a voice told them to ignore God's command! The rest of the story tells how Eve and Adam listened to the voice of the serpent instead of the voice of God. When they ate the forbidden fruit, they pushed themselves away from God. It was as if they were saying, "We don't want to listen to you anymore!"

In this story, Adam and Eve were the first ones to push themselves away from God. But what happened to them also happens to us! We too find it easy to stop listening to God. We all need to hear and obey God's voice!

Dear Father, I love your world and all the good things and people you have put in it! But even good people mess up. Help me want what is good. Make me willing to hear and obey your voice.
